Iulia Gaga Ștefan

Iuliana Ștefan Gaga is a painter who puts wings to her characters, because she chose to see and amplify the beauty and light of people and everything around her.

Things exist through light. We see one thing insofar as it reflects light. We do not see the things without light and we do not know that they exist. Each thing has a different power to reflect light. Matte objects reflect it less, while glossy objects reflect it very well, turning themselves into a light source.

The best light absorber is gold, which is why we find it in icons – gold is material light. On this principle is made the reflector, whose mirrors amplify the light they receive. Things reflect not only light, but also their own colors.

Thus the adjacent objects in the same light borrow each of its colors. In painting, these colored blicks that the adjacent objects borrow are called reflections. An apple next to a blue teapot will have blue shadows on it and will in turn pour its redness over the teapot. And people become seen insofar as they are in the light, otherwise we see in them only the reflection of the darkness of the world in which they are. Our own colors fall on those around us and we receive from their colors.

That’s why people change depending on their entourage because the colors that fall on them are different. Only in perfect light do we become ourselves, in the world being the sum of colors and shadows. However, this exchange is pleasing to God, so that everyone may know the measure of light. Some are wood, some stone, some unseen glass that becomes sun if you change your angle of view. To the extent that we ourselves receive the divine light we become reflectors that shed it on others.

Then we no longer give of our human color to make the other more like us, but we give the Light that makes the other become himself – the face and likeness of the One who is Himself the Light.
